The El Dorado Golf & Country Club was founded in 1923 during the height of the oil boom by Colonel Thomas Barton and friends seeking a golf and country club for them and their colleagues. During the depression, part of the golf course was converted to a skeet shooting range to fray costs during this difficult time. Once the economy improved, the course was converted back to its original course layout and hosted the first Oil Belt Golf Tournament that is still in existence today. In the Oil Belt Golf Tournament’s early years, it hosted well known golf professionals who traveled around the region making a living playing the game of golf.
The Club began major renovations of The Clubhouse in 2018; the first of a multiple phase improvement plan that will continue over the coming years for the entire campus. The current improvements consist of a completely updated member dining room, upscale bar & lounge, updated private event space, new tennis courts, updated resort pool area with 2-story slide, and open aired cabana with full food and beverage service.
El Dorado Golf & Country Club has become a place for business and family fun with world class dining and member service, which would make all the founding members proud. The Club is preparing for our centennial celebration in 2023. We are proud of our rich history and look forward to the many years to come. El Dorado Golf & Country Club - Where History Meets Today.
